Photobucket

Although not as familiar with the sport of Motorcross, I am familiar with the heavy hitters and notable riders such as Jeremy Lusk. On behalf of myself, Flash Scoop and other fans I would like to express my dearest condolences to the Lusk family and friends.

Freestyle motocross superstar Jeremy Lusk, 24-years-old died late Monday night in the Calderon Hospital after suffering from severe head trauma from attempting to land a the "Hart Attack" backflip that ended badly during a competition in San Jose, Costa Rica. Lusk rode up the long ramp and into the air..slamming headfirst into the dirt. According to the Associate Press, "The Temecula, Calif., resident was diagnosed with a subdural hematoma and survived a 4 1/2-hour surgery to help remedy the problem and reduce swelling in his brain, the North County Times reported. He was then placed into a medically induced coma but never regained consciousness." In the hospital, Lusk was surrounded by his mother and father, Chuck and Gina Lusk; his wife Lauren, and mother- and father-in-law Lynne and Larry, along with fellow Metal Mulisha riders Brian Deegan, Ryan Hagy, Cameron Steele and Erik Apple.

Lusk best known for his stellar achievements: being the Gold medalist in the 2008 X-Games and Silver in Best Trick when he landed the first double-grab "Hart Attack" backflip. He won a Bronze helmet in freestyle at the Moto X World Championships in his hometown of San Diego. As his achievements will be remembered so will his love of life to those that knew him. Lusk will not be forgotten in the world of motocross.

Please keep Lusk and his family in your thoughts and prayers. An announcement on a memorial service is pending.
